Kimberly Richardson Sensei 7th Dan

Kimberly Richardson is the founder and chief instructor of Two Cranes Aikido in Seattle, WA and the Executive Director of Two Cranes Institute. She began her Aikido training in1978 at Naropa University and entered into an intensive study of the art with her first teacher, Mary Heiny Sensei, in 1979.  Kimberly has studied   throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and Japan, most notably with Motomichi Anno, Mitsugi Saotome, Frank Doran and Hiroshi Ikeda Shihans, Terry Dobson and Tom Read Senseis. She taught Aikido at Apple Computer in Cupertino, CA and acted as an adjunct faculty member of Antioch University teaching Aikido as Martial Art and Spiritual Practice for eight years. She received her 6th degree black belt from Heiny Sensei in 2007.

 

In 2008 Kimberly founded Two Cranes Institute 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides educational and embodied leadership programs in the Seattle community and beyond. Her goal is to share O’Sensei's principles and practices that cultivate peaceful solutions to conflict and encourage nonviolent action.

 

Additionally, Kimberly has studied Tai Chi Chen for fifteen years with Sifu Ken Wright and she is passionate about ballroom dancing. Watching children develop confidence and self-esteem on the training mat is the inspiration for her first book, Gus Learns to Fly.
